Merry, merry Christmas! I can't believe Christmas has up and left already. Man the end of the year sure flew by. This Christmas was a little weird for me since it was the first holiday season that I haven't been in school or working. Like literally. First time in forever. Don't get me wrong, I love my free time, but for some reason holidays seem to mean more when you get a break from your day to day life. And since my day to day life consists of doing whatever I want all the time anyway, the "Christmas season feeling" didn't really take like it has in years past. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the holiday just the same. Anytime that I get to eat tons of good food, spend my time with my amazing family, and get showered with gifts is a good time in my book :)
Christian and Chase man checking out the train/our Christmas tree!
So, in the apartment we have now, we don't exactly have like a front room/living room area. We have a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and another half bedroom that we call "the pit." We considered setting up the tree in the kitchen/dining room area, but as anyone who has been over to my house can attest, it is like a cooler in there. It used to be a garage and it wasn't insulated very well when the previous owners decided to convert it. I have to wear my coat, boots, and haul the space heater down the stairs when I cook dinner. We leave extra food out on the counter top because it's cold enough to be an extension of the fridge. We try to spend as little time in there as possible because during the winter months, you can literally see your breath. Ahhh...the joys of student living :) Anyway, so we didn't want to have the tree in the kitchen because it was too darn cold. We thought about putting it in the pit, but it's a small room and already pretty crowded. So we finally decided on our bedroom. It was so fun and cozy to be cuddled in bed and have the lights twinkling in the same room.
This year, we set up the train Christian's parent's gave us. Isn't it great? This thing is legit. It's a heavy duty, electric train with little tracks, switches, people, and real smoke. Coolest toy ever right? Chase fell in love and literally sat on our floor for two hours straight watching the train run around the track.
Know what else is cute? This adorable wreath I made! Yeah, that's right! I actually MADE this. Can you believe it? My mom and I went shopping at Hobby Lobby the week of Christmas and everything was like half off. I found all these little pieces and ta-dah! I especially love the "C" in the middle. (Which in fact stands for Carnley and not Christmas like people originally thought :) )
Aaaaand, last but not least, one of my favorite purchases this year.... drum roll please....Christian and I bought "Mom" and "Dad" stockings! They are knit, and soft, and oh so cute. Yep, these are the stockings we bought to last us the rest of our lives as parents. And yes, that was a hint :)
Those are the cutest stockings--I love them! :) We are so excited for you Stacie! Can't wait to see you guys again in the summer!
